Scott helped me learn a few cool Apple tricks today. I already knew some of these.
First, Apple-Shift-4 Gives you a crosshairs. Drag the crosshairs over a section of the window, and it does a partial screen capture to a file named something like "Picture 1.png" on your desktop. That's kinda cool. This is what I've used to capture those recent photos of Scott from my iChat window.
If you add Control to that -- Apple-Shift-Control-4 -- the images goes to your cut & paste buffer instead.
Then Scott sent me to You Control software. You Control has a very cool software for helping to manage your Apple. Basically, you can add lots of menus and controls to your Apple menu bar. Right now, I have added iTunes controls (so I can control iTunes without switching apps), a current weather in St. Paul (70 degrees F right now), an enhanced system clock, and a cool clipboard history tracker -- which should prove useful as I get used to it.
