I just sent a story off to Weird Tales! "Hell Hath No Fury" is a back story involving Mirabelle du Troyes, set sometime in the 1800s. I am expecting a pink slip, but the story is as well-written as I can achieve.
The Weird Tales editor promises relatively prompt reply. If she likes it, that's fabulous! If not, I'll have to start looking at other magazines -- none of which I've read before. Unfortunately, WT doesn't pay professional rates. They're 3-4 cents a word, and professional SF is considered 5 cents a word. If they publish Hell Hath, I'll get about $300. However, it would be a very reputable publishing credit, which is worth far more to me than the money, anyway.
Expect to hear about my pink slip in 4-6 weeks.
