They Don't Get It

The Bush administration doesn't seem to get it. It would be very difficult to directly blame the administration for the latest scandal regarding the Iraqi prisoners. The administration's tool in Iraq is the U.S. military, whose policies and training have been in place for a long time. It's not fair to blame any given administration for any failings in our military's training.

However, the administration knew they had a problem, and they neither chose to do something about it nor report it to Congress.

That makes them guilty after the fact.

The administration just doesn't get it. They're trying to duck the blame of the acts occurring, but they aren't taking responsibility for what they COULD have done, but chose not to.

Three major blunders:

1. Discovering the problems were real, but not fixing them.
2. Hiding the problems.
3. Failing to admit a mistake in judgement.

All the President had to do was say, "We tried to handle this quietly, to make sure we did the right thing." Of course, that's only true if they WERE trying to handle it.

Doesn't seem like that's the case at all, either.
