Constitutional Amendment?

George Bush has stated he's going to make a constitutional amendment discriminating against gays a major issue during this presidential election year. That's right, W thinks the constitution should be amended to take away rights.

The entire concept is ludicrous and pure politics. He's hoping to bring out the conservative evangelical vote. But Evangelicals should ask themselves whether this man truly represents their values.

Does it follow Christian values to reduce support for struggling families, literally taking food away from children who had no control over their situation?

Maybe it's part of Christian values to help others damage the earth, rather than protecting and revering the riches God has given us.

Oh, I know! Jesus repeatedly preached from the hilltops how we should take up arms and kill everyone who disagrees with us! That's why Bush wanted to go to war so badly instead of finding diplomatic solutions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

To me, Christian values are about how we treat each other and carefully manage the resources God gave us. Christianity is about helping people who need our help, knowing we can set them on a healthy path where they'll be able to help others down the road.

I'm not the first to say this. But I really wish everyone would ask themselves a simple question. Does George Bush really walk the walk, or is he just all talk?
