Freedom of Speech. Again.

As reported by CNN...

In short, Rumsfield was heckled during a recent speech.

I agree with the hecklers. At least, I agree with what they said. But I don't agree remotely with the way they chose to say it. I'm sorry, but disrupting someone else's speech is not remotely the meaning of Freedom of Speech, and you don't remotely have the right to do so.

Those of you who were escorted out of the building by security were treated appropriately. Unless, of course, they marched you into the back room and gave you a roughing up. I don't think that happened.

People, people... You have the right to say whatever you want. You shouldn't feel any fear that the government will respond to your words in an intimidating fashion. You have the right to rent a theater and invite people to come here you say whatever you want to say. You have the right to talk on the street corner with anyone who will listen, provided you don't disrupt traffic.

But you do not have the right to force your message on anyone who doesn't care to listen. And you most certainly do not have the right to hinder other people from listening to the message they came to hear.

The audience for the most part came to hear Rumsfield talk. And you violated their rights to do so. This was wrong.
