House Representative William Jefferson of Louisiana is under investigation for, amongst other things, accepting bribes. The FBI set up a sting operation, giving him $100,000. In a search of his house last summer, $90,000 of that money was found in his freezer.

Since then, Rep. Jefferson has tried to play the "you're doing this because I'm black" card.

Bullshit.

Rep. Jefferson, they're after you because you accepted bribes. Everyone knows you accepted the bribe, because the bribe money was found in your freezer. You broke the law, big time. You got busted, also big time. And if you cared about your constituents the way you say, and if you cared about the Democratic party the way you should, you would resign your position.

Instead, your actions serve no one but yourself, you greedy son of a bitch.

Look, I understand the allure of the money. Maybe you had a moment of weakness. Maybe you didn't know what you were supposed to do when someone handed you the money. Maybe you were planning on giving all of it to the church or to some other charity. Maybe you didn't intend to line your own coffers. Maybe you really aren't a bad man. I can't judge any of that, and I'm trying not to judge you for taking the money in the first place.

But you got caught. And now you're screwed. Why are you continuing to hurt your party at the same time.

Resign. Apologize. Apologize to your constituents. Apologize to the other black representatives. And apologize to your party.

That's what you would do if you were a good man, regardless of any poor judgement or moments of weakness our outright greed that justified your taking the money in the first place.
