What Would We Do?

As reported by CNN...

In short, Italy is pissed off that American operatives kidnapped a terrorist suspect from Italy. The kidnapped person was not an Italian citizen.

I've been following this story. Well, following is a loose term. When CNN writes about it, I read what they write. I have two feelings about it. My first reaction is, "What's wrong with those Italians? This guy is a terrorist. The rules don't apply." And to some extent, I believe that. There's a difference between a terrorist and a bank robber when it comes to the way you treat them. If the bank robber finds out you want to arrest him, he leaves and doesn't come back. A terrorist leaves, but he either kills a bunch of people in the process or he goes somewhere else only to come back later and kill people.

Capture them however you can. And if you absolutely know they're a terrorist, get whatever information you can from them, using whatever methods are necessary, so long as those methods can be confirmed. Torturing a confession from someone isn't proof. If he tells you where the bodies are and gives you information that wouldn't have been available to an innocent man, then you have proof.

But all that being said...

How would the U.S. react if Italy kidnapped someone from U.S. soil?

That's why they're mad.
