Environmental Bandwagon

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/04/12/arnold.green/index.html?eref=rss_politics

I haven't liked Arnold as a politician, but I have to admit, the man is smart. He has a deep understanding of image. And the writing is on the wall. The environmentalists have been screaming for years, and the world is finally waking up. Arnold realizes that any politician who wants to remain successful had better divorce himself from the "global warming is a lie" crowd now, before it's too late.

My personal belief is that a combination of energy and the environment is the most important issue we're facing. It's not terrorists, it's not abortion, it's not gay rights. Those are transitory. Indeed, the terrorist threat would go away if we were in a position to let the middle east rot. So in spite of the other things Arnold says that don't sit with my socially progressive positions, having him spearheading a search for green is just fine with me.
