Socialism

Okay, this is frustrating. I keep hearing the same ignorant people calling Barrack Obama either a socialist or a communist.

These people don't even know what those words mean.

Neither socialism nor communism is about social programs. They are economic models. Socialism refers primarily to how businesses are owned. (Communism is one example of socialism, so everything I say about socialism is true about communism.) In socialism, companies are somehow owned collectively "by the people". The specifics change depending on the exact brand of socialism.

People, stop using words you don't understand!

Not once have I ever heard Obama suggest we should nationalize any industry. Even his ideas for health insurance for everyone rely on the existing providers. At no point does he talk about nationalizing any companies or having the federal government take over the role of existing companies.

What you really mean to say is that you don't want the US to be a welfare state.

When someone uses a word of phrase incorrectly, that person is displaying ignorance. If the person continues to do this, they're also displaying stupidity. There's no reason people need to remain ignorant unless they are indeed stupid as well.
