When Republicans push forward a religion-based set of public policy, what they are really saying is, "It's okay for government to be ruled by religion." But only if it's their religion, not someone else's.
Sharia law is one of the most frightening trends in the world right now. Two countries have caved to pressures towards Sharia law in the last couple of weeks, and you can bet that the proponents won't be satisfied until the entire world is run this way.
I don't propose a return to McCarthyism but where Sharia is the new Communism. But I do believe we need to be vigilant.
And it starts at home by saying "no" to absolutely any religious-based public policy. If Christianity-based attitudes are incorporated into public policy now, then that's saying that it's okay 20 years from now to incorporate Sharia-based attitudes.
Say no, and say no right now.
